Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using Roster ("the App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, do not use the App.

2. Description of Service

Roster is a personal relationship management application that allows users to organize and track their romantic interests. The App includes features such as:

• Creating and managing a "roster" of dating prospects
• Ranking prospects into tiers (MVP, Starting Lineup, Bench)
• Discovering when other users have added the same person (Transfer Portal)
• Proximity-based detection of nearby users
• Direct messaging between matched users

3. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old to use Roster. By using the App, you represent and warrant that you are at least 18 years of age and have the legal capacity to enter into these Terms.

4. User Accounts

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials. You agree to notify us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account. We are not liable for any loss or damage arising from your failure to protect your account.

5. User Conduct

You agree not to:

• Use the App for any unlawful purpose
• Harass, abuse, or harm other users
• Share false or misleading information
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the App or its systems
• Use the App to stalk, intimidate, or invade the privacy of others
• Create fake profiles or misrepresent your identity
• Use automated systems or bots to access the App

6. Privacy and Data

Your use of the App is also governed by our Privacy Policy. By using Roster, you consent to the collection and use of your data as described in the Privacy Policy.

7. Content Ownership

You retain ownership of any content you submit to the App. By submitting content, you grant Roster a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to use, store, and display your content solely for the purpose of operating the App.

8. Third-Party Information

When you add information about other individuals to your roster, you represent that you have a legitimate basis for possessing this information and that your use complies with applicable laws. You agree not to add information about individuals without their knowledge for malicious purposes.

9. Subscriptions and Payments

Certain features require a paid subscription ("Roster Pro"). Subscriptions auto-renew unless cancelled. Refunds are handled according to Apple App Store and Google Play Store policies.

10. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND. WE DO NOT GUARANTEE THAT THE APP WILL BE ERROR-FREE, SECURE, OR CONTINUOUSLY AVAILABLE.

11. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, ROSTER SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE APP.

12. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Roster and its affiliates from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from your use of the App or violation of these Terms.

13. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to the App at any time, with or without cause. Upon termination, your right to use the App ceases immediately.

14. Changes to Terms

We may modify these Terms at any time. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the modified Terms.

15. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, without regard to conflict of law principles.

Privacy Policy

1. Information We Collect

Account Information: Phone number, username, profile photo.

Roster Data: Names, photos, and contact information of people you add to your roster.

Usage Data: How you interact with the App, features used, time spent.

Location Data: Bluetooth proximity data when enabled, used to detect nearby Roster users.

Device Information: Device type, operating system, unique device identifiers.

2. How We Use Your Information

• To provide and improve the App's features
• To match you with other users who have added the same people
• To enable proximity-based features
• To send notifications about matches and messages
• To analyze usage patterns and improve the App
• To comply with legal obligations

3. Information Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We may share information:

• With other users through the Transfer Portal (limited to match status)
• With service providers who help operate the App
• When required by law or to protect rights and safety
• In connection with a merger or acquisition

4. Proximity Detection

When enabled, Roster uses Bluetooth Low Energy to detect nearby users. This data is:

• Anonymized using cryptographic hashes
• Stored locally on your device
• Synced securely to improve match rankings
• Retained for 90 days, then deleted

You can disable proximity detection at any time in Settings.

5. Data Security

We implement industry-standard security measures including:

• Encryption in transit and at rest
• Secure authentication
• Regular security audits
• Limited employee access to user data

6. Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. You can request deletion of your account and associated data at any time.

7. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights to:

• Access your personal data
• Correct inaccurate data
• Delete your data
• Export your data
• Opt out of certain processing

8. Children's Privacy

Roster is not intended for users under 18. We do not knowingly collect information from minors.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. We will notify you of significant changes through the App.
